About the Role

We are looking for a Software Delivery lead, to lead the software delivery function and lead a team of software engineers within the Business Systems Software (BSS) team.  This position is responsible for the management of software enhancement activities within the team and contributes to the planning, direction and oversight of all applicable activities including management and co-ordination of software deployments and system enhancements

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, vision and direction to the BSS Software Delivery team
  • Lead the team in delivering new software deployments and enhancement works as well as support for the applicable systems
  • Ensure defined processes are developed, implemented, measured and managed
  • Work collaboratively within the Digital team, Operations Systems team and Manager Business Systems Software
  • Act as a design authority for the applications and hosted AWS environment.
  • Assist in evaluation of project requirements and scope
  • Ensure the technical change control process is adhered to for all changes carried out within the function
  • Conduct development design discussions and code reviews ensuring Cybersecurity and OWASP compliance
  • Ensure all documentation on the systems/applications is kept updated to quality standards in centralised repository
  • Conduct software demonstrations to stakeholders
  • Lead all software delivery and support activities in an Agile fashion.

About You

  • Tertiary studies in a Software Engineering / Computer Science discipline
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in Software Engineering. Proven experience in the following technologies: Java, Dropwizard/SpringBoot, Cordova, AngularJS and AWS
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a small team of Software Engineering staff to deliver projects on time
  • Enjoy a role that allows you to be part manager of a team and part hands on developer
  • Strong understanding of system development lifecycle management, IT services management, infrastructure and operations
  • Enjoy working in a dynamic environment comfortable with context switching
  • Ability to demonstrate strategic vision in the context of the business’s operational outputs and practices
  • Demonstrated understanding of the principles and criticality of adherence to a proper change management process
  • Ability to work autonomously and keep management fully informed of progress, financials, risks and issues
  • Exceptional soft and interpersonal skills, including teamwork, mentoring, facilitation and negotiation
