We’re currently seeking a candidate for a Day Shift Substation Tester position, based at MTM’s Burnley depot.
The Substation Tester is responsible for routine maintenance, fault investigations, commissioning and acceptance testing of all equipment associated with traction substations, tie-stations, industrial substations and signal power systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintenance testing traction substations, tie-stations and signal power systems.
- Commissioning and acceptance testing of new and existing traction substations, tie-stations and signal power systems.
- System fault Investigations
- Planning testing activities
- Preparing test plans
Mandatory Qualifications & Experience
- ESI Cert IV Substations
- Electrician's Licence (known as A Class/A/E licence)
- Experience in working in substation environment
- Understanding of measuring equipment used in protection schemes (instrument transformers, transducers)
- Ability to read, interpret and fault find using electrical drawings (schematics, SLDs etc.)
- Computer skills and ability to learn software packages
- Experience is fault investigations and reporting
- Strong commitment to quality assurance, workplace health & safety and the environment
- Current Driver's license
- Rail Industry Worker Card
- Current First Aid and CPR
