We have a fantastic opportunity for a Technical Development Lead to join our specialist MTM Digital team. The teams focus is to develop, deliver, support and improve the technology used across the broader organisation in their day-to-day roles.  The team is responsible for the development, enhancement, maintenance and support of key Business and Control Systems, and Digital Engagement software.

The Technical Development Lead will guide the team to successful develop and delivery of initiatives. The role will be tasked with addressing best practice for the technical approach, development, delivery, quality and governance. 
This is a critical role in our team as you will be leading a team of software developers who are responsible for the development, delivery and support function associated with the core suite of digital and, Business and Control systems.

This opportunity will enable the successful applicant to engage with the software team and provide their experience in building a software delivery team. This will include ensuring the appropriate mechanism are in place to enable a model for successful and repeatable delivery model. 




  • Provide leadership, vision and direction to the Business Systems and Controls Systems, and Digital Software function to achieve their required deliverables.
  • Identify and address areas within the team which are require to be uplifted to enable a high performing delivery when considering technology, development, quality and governance and implement
  • Build and develop technical scalable capability within the team and create an environment of higher performance with success measurement
  • Review the current system and software maintenance and support processes. This will include they are defined, developed, implemented, measured and managed
  • Coach and mentor the team to uplift individual and team performance
  • Proactively manage the team to ensure all KPIs are achieved
  • Provide leadership, guidance and mentoring to the Software Support Leads

About You


  • Tertiary studies in a Software Engineering / Computer Science discipline.
  • Minimum of ten years of experience in an IT profession, preferably with strong base of software development and technical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing high performance teams in a project delivery and/or system support capacity.
  • A successful track record management of software development and implementation of projects. Experience within the rail or transport sectors would be beneficial however not mandatory.
  • Excellent people and team management skills.
  • Strong experience in the management of complex projects with a high degree of software development.
  • Demonstrated successful budget management.
  • Strong stakeholder management with proven capability to align senior decision makers.
  • Quality focused with attention to detail and initiative as the situation demands.
  • Persistent and Enthusiastic.
  • Team player who cares about people and is dependable.
  • Thrives on the challenge of making a difference, embracing the opportunities presented and bring the best out of the team.

This is an initial 12 month fixed term role.
