About the role 

The Timetable Evaluation Analyst role will support the analytical and modelling functions of MTM’s Network Design and Modelling team through the development and maintenance of rail operations models and analytical tools to support the rigorous and reliable planning of current and future services and network operations.   

 
More role responsibilities include: 

  • Support Network Planning and Timetabling’s internal quality assurance and continuous improvement plan to ensure that ongoing timetable development and operational strategy is consistent with MTM's strategic vision. 

  • Analysis of Concept, Master and Daily Timetables for MTM's rail network against a set of Key Performance Indicators, with a focus on product evaluation and capturing feedback. 

  • Develop options as required to improve the timetable performance or address potential performance issues, in collaboration with the broader Network Planning and Timetabling areas. 

  • Analysing, interpreting and guiding inputs into comprehensive operational and demand models to support strategic service planning and infrastructure requirements for future network configuration states with an operational strategy lens.  

  • Interrogate operational and patronage data to identify and understand key issues on the network and provide briefing to Project teams or Network Planning and Timetabling. 

  • Maintain knowledge of MTM's Franchise obligations as they relate to Master Timetable outcomes and ensure compliance as required. 

  • Support the automation of internal processes to capture knowledge and improve capabilities, to build and deliver “on the job” training to ensure staff acquire the skills and develop the competencies required by MTM. 

  • Convert technical information into a usable format, for stakeholders, using computer software programs and monitor for continuous improvement. 

 

 

About you 

 

  • Proven experience in undertaking complex analysis, reviewing, testing, interpreting, and drawing inferences from data and presenting results in a clear manner. 

  • Sound conceptual and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and understand important issues. 

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of computer-based systems/tools in a research environment, such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, SQL Server and / or programming languages. 

  • Strong communication skills (verbal & written), including the ability to collaborate and influence key decisions, whilst delivering clear professional communications across a range of stakeholders (internal and external) and various levels of team members. 

  • Effective time management skills with the ability to effectively prioritise and multi-task in an operational environment and in an emergency and high-pressure situation to make timely and accurate decisions. 

  • Ability to identify and analyse risks to make corrective actions for a continuous improvement focus.
