About the position: 

As a Track Inspector for the North West, you’ll play an integral part of the Infrastructure team by being responsible for the safety, maintenance, and inspection of any given section of track. As part of this role you will be involved in both the general inspection of sections of track as well as the more detailed assessment of critical assets and priority faults. You’ll use your experience working in a rail environment and extensive knowledge of how to identify track defects, their condition, ensuring that compliance and the necessary remediation actions are undertaken.  

 

This is a night shift position working on a 5 on/2 off roster from Sunday to Thursday, from 22:00-06:00.  This position will be located in our Kertheba Depot, and you’ll have the possibility of completing overtime on the un-rostered days. 

 

Main duties include: 

  • Inspect track sections, prioritising faults in line with business procedures and report on faults requiring renewal or maintenance works. 
  • Attend to incidents and faults when escalated and provide support to the Skilled Operatives to rectify the incident or fault as quickly as possible. 
  • Investigate and prepare technical, administration, or any incident report required to communicate the outcome of the works performed 
  • Certify track works completed by other parties as required from time to time. 
  • Lead daily pre and post work meetings, demonstrating values set out by MTM to ensure the team behave in accordance with them. 
  • Ensure that all work is performed in accordance with the appropriate MTM policies and procedures, as well as OH&S Standards and Regulations. 

 

About you: 

  • Cert II in Rail Infrastructure (Track Work) - mandatory. 
  • Cert III in Rail Infrastructure (Track Work) - mandatory. 
  • Competency skill set for Track Inspection - mandatory. 
  • Possess a current Victorian driver’s license.  
  • Qualified Safeworking Track Force Protection Co-ordinator 3.1. 
  • First Aid Certified Level 2. 
  • Experienced as a Track Way Maintainer, with track maintenance or renewal experience. 
  • Must be available to work reasonable overtime, including emergency overtime
