The role
Metro Trains is on the lookout for 2 x Track Maintenance Labourers to join our dynamic team in our Infrastructure division.
In this role, you’ll be involved in all things track-related—think corrective, preventative maintenance, and renewal activities. We're all about teamwork and communication, so bring your best self to help us produce top-notch work that meets Metro’s high standards. You’ll be getting your hands dirty while installing and maintaining tracks, all while keeping safety and efficiency at the forefront.
These are full time permanent opportunities based at Infrastructure Docklands Depot. We’ll need you to be available for night shifts from Sunday to Wednesday, 20:00pm-05:30am.

What you'll do
- Perform maintenance and installation work to ensure timely completion of track upgrades and upkeep.
- Tackle labouring tasks using both hand tools and mechanical equipment.
- Conduct regular checks as per our maintenance schedules, ensuring a tidy workplace and well-maintained tools.
- Get involved in on-the-job instruction, pre and post-work meetings, and contribute to our toolbox discussions.
- Report on completed work daily and ensure all tasks meet Metro’s quality standards.
- Follow all OH&S Standards and Metro’s policies to keep everyone safe.
- Be a mentor to junior team members—your experience will help shape the future of our team!
About you

Desirable skills (not essential):
- Rail experience, particularly working tracks.
- Medium Rigid Drivers Licence
- Certificate II in Rail Infrastructure (Rail Maintenance)
- Train Track Safety Awareness certified (or be ready to get certified)
- Knowledge of safety requirements in the rail and maintenance industry, including OHS Act and safe working practices.
