The role:

The MTM Infrastructure Division are seeking an experienced Track Renewals Manager to manage the delivery of Track Renewals for the Annual Works Plan.  The successful applicant will drive business improvements through planning, technology and delivery methods both internally and with our contract partners.

Main duties:

  • Ensure that the renewals practices meet all legislative and regulatory requirements, as well as relevant maintenance standards and processes
  • Ensure that renewals objectives are championed throughout the various business interfaces
  • Ensure correct tools and equipment are appropriately audited, certified, maintained and utilised for work and all equipment, materials and emergency items are assembled and accessible on the job
  • Manage additional contract resources in order to deliver works including requisition, procurement, cost analysis in line with budget, performance, safety and quality in accordance with Metro’s contractor management procedures.
  • Lead and drive performance and accountability through daily visualisation meetings
  • Manage depots (or part thereof) that their team utilises including compliance, safety and 5S processes
  • Experience in managing all aspects of projects from identification, design, planning and delivery
  • Prepare the renewals team’s annual budget
  • Assist in the preparation of the detailed works planning including access, people, plant, scope, cost and timing that enables delivery of the Annual Works Plan
  • Monitor and control delivery to the approved budget and plan, and make appropriate interventions where deviation occurs
  • Review transactions at least monthly and ensure correct allocation of all costs and accruals
  • Manage procurement in accordance MTM policies and procedures

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Extensive experience leading a large rail maintenance business in an operating rail environment
  • Experience leading large teams that self-perform rail maintenance work
  • Proven experience of managing $50m+ budgets, including direct commercial, budget and planning accountability
  • Experience leading teams in a unionised environment
  • Tertiary qualification in an Infrastructure related discipline
  • Post-graduate qualifications in management or asset management
