The Signals System Officer position is an essential role that exists to provide a pool of highly trained Technical Specialists in the Signal Control Environment. Once a level of performance is attained, and as vacancies arise, you will be fully prepared to step into the Position of Senior Signal Systems Officer.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Undertake formal and broad informal (ad-hoc) training on the TCMS train control equipment, CBTC equipment systems and other support systems that make up the signal control systems at Metrol and Metrol DRS site.
- Be flexible with hours of work attendance to allow the required training to be delivered, both formal and informal.
- Assist the Senior Signal Systems Officer/Supervisor to monitor, analyse, service, maintain, detect, and repair faults on all computer systems and their peripherals for which the Signal Maintenance Metrol Section is responsible, including all Data Transmission Systems within Signal Train Control Centre (Metrol) and the Disaster Recovery Site (DRS).
- Liaise with Operations staff for efficient train running and correspond with other Sections, providing 24 hour access to all relevant Train Running Sections.
- Conduct research, diagnose fault conditions, and report findings.
- Assist the Senior Signal Systems Officer /Supervisor to ensure projects are implemented within the necessary time frame without disruption to the rail service provided.
ABOUT YOU
- Certificate IV in Rail Signalling mandatory
- Certificate V in Rail signalling or equivalent OIC Training mandatory
- Extensive knowledge and experience of Metro’s signalling systems and equipment and safe maintenance practices
- Minimum of 5 Years’ experience as a Signal Maintenance Technician
- Certified in Track Safety Awareness (Level 1)
- Ability to schedule work priorities to ensure deadlines are strictly adhered to whilst managing complex situations, having solid problem solving and negotiating skills.
- Ability to maintain a professional approach with all personnel across all levels and foster a team orientated culture.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally & written will all levels of stakeholders.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to write reports and manage time effectively.
