About the role
Are you passionate about mechanical systems and eager to share your expertise as a Trainer?
Here is a great opportunity to join our team as a Mechanical Trainer in our Rolling Stock division, where you will play a pivotal role in the training and development of our Rolling Stock maintenance staff to maintain the X’Trapolis 2.0 trains.
In this 2 year fixed-term, full-time role, you will have the opportunity to travel across Melbourne—including Craigieburn, North Melbourne, and our upcoming Kananook depot, to develop and deliver essential technical training.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop Training Materials: Create engaging and effective training resources based on Alstom’s maintenance manuals and design documents.
- Collaborate: Work closely with Engineering and Project Teams to gather comprehensive knowledge of the X’Trapolis 2.0 systems.
- Design Courses: Develop training programs that combine theoretical knowledge with practical application to enhance learning outcomes.
- Support Maintenance Development: Assist in creating maintenance methods and instructions that are clear and user-friendly.
- Ensure Compliance: Maintain adherence to the Enterprise Agreement, National Training Packages, and all relevant legal requirements.
- Structure Effectively: Organise training courses to minimise disruption to ongoing fleet maintenance while maximising learning impact.
- Deliver Training: Conduct training sessions for maintenance staff, aligning with competency profiles and training maps.
- Report Progress: Provide regular updates on training delivery effectiveness to the MTM leadership team.
About You
- Qualifications: TAE40116 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and Certificate III in Mechanical Trade are mandatory.
- Proven experience in a Rolling Stock Maintenance Environment or a related field.
- Excellent planning and organisational abilities to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- A collaborative spirit who thrives in diverse environments.
- Demonstrated experience in developing impactful training programs.
- Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills to tackle challenges effectively.
