About the role
As a Works Assistant in the Infrastructure Signals team, you will support in the delivery of maintenance and renewals, assist with reactive maintenance needs, system alterations/upgrades and new works.
This is a permanent position working Monday to Friday on rotating shifts between 0530 and 2030 or as required across the Metro train network.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with installing, repairing, and modifying infrastructure assets.
- Perform manual labour using hand and mechanical tools for maintenance and upgrades.
- Operate vehicles, equipment, and assist with larger machinery as needed.
- Support safety procedures, inspections, and update systems with asset condition data.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas, while managing hazards and following safety regulations
About you
- Experience working in a similar rail labouring position
- 3.1 TFPC qualification preferred
- Current and Valid Victorian Drivers Licence
- Experience using an iPad to monitor and update work schedules
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Sound knowledge of rail safety and safe working requirements
- Ability to work overtime on weekends as required
