About the role

The Works Leader supports mechanical Signalling assets, by way of supporting the delivery of preventative / reactive maintenance and renewal, alterations, upgrades and new installations.

 

We are seeking applicants for a permanent position based in the South Eastern Suburbs.

 

To succeed in this role, you must be willing to complete a Certificate III in Mechanical Rail Signalling within 18 months of starting, with full sponsorship provided by Metro.
 

Key responsibilities

 

  • Assist with installation, repair, modification, and inspection of signalling assets
  • Perform manual labour using hand and mechanical tools for infrastructure maintenance and upgrades
  • Support Signal Maintenance Technicians and Interlocking Fitters in various tasks
  • Update asset databases with inspection results and asset condition reports
  • Participate in planning, toolbox talks, and worksite meetings
  • Ensure all work complies with OH&S standards and Metro Trains policies

 

About you

 

  • Experience working in a similar rail labouring position
  • 3.1 TFPC qualification
  • Current and Valid Victorian Drivers Licence including Medium Rigid (MR) Licence
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Sound knowledge of safety and safe working requirements
