  • Join fulltime permanent at MTMs Newport Station Maintenance Facility 
  • This role is offered on an afternoon roster at 1400 - 2200 Monday-Friday
  • Salary range offered $100,000.00 Inc Super + yearly travel Myki card

Position Overview

The Yard Co-Ordinator is responsible for all train movements within this depot. You will be a central point of contact for a number of diverse stakeholders, including train drivers and maintenance staff. 
As Yard coordinator this role requires you on site, through a rotating roster day & afternoon shift while  ensuring that the maximum amount of Metro Trains are available for both the morning and evening peak services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Liaise with MTM Fleet Control, Train Services and Metrol to ensure efficient delivery of MTM's fleet maintenance requirements and transposals at Newport Workshops.
  • Understand project requirements and facilitate MTM Rolling stock Project rail movement deliveries to various workshop locations within the complex.
  • Work closely with the Newport team to develop an effective daily operations plan. 
  • Facilitate train movements in the Newport Workshops and Yard
  • Communicate effectively with drivers/signallers/Maintenance staff and shunters to ensure understanding and safe movement of trains and locomotives within Newport Workshops.
  • Create daily status reports & Attend meetings with contractors and service providers as required.
  • Work closely with the Depot Manager/Train Driver Manager and Maintenance planner on all matters relating to train driver and shunting performance and issues.

Experience Criteria

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in rolling stock fleet maintenance or operations; in particular specified fleet maintenance systems
  • In-depth knowledge of Fleet Maintenance Standard Work Practices
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel knowledge and ability
  • Practice providing service across multiple business areas in a large organisation
  • Verified ability to communicate clearly verbally and in writing
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in an operational, time critical environment
