We have an exciting opportunity for a Contracts & Compliance Manager to lead the development, negotiation, and management of contracts across our Infrastructure division. This role is pivotal in ensuring all third-party engagements are strategically reviewed and optimized to support MTM’s maintenance obligations, operational goals, and cost efficiency. You’ll manage the full contract lifecycle, drive compliance, mitigate risk, and deliver best commercial outcomes to maximize value for MTM.

 

This is a full-time permanent opportunity based at our E-Gate Depot in West Melbourne. 


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the entire lifecycle of contracts, from initial drafting and negotiation to completion and closure
  • Conduct strategic reviews of existing third-party engagements (both contracted and uncontracted spend) to ensure optimal engagement models and contractual frameworks.
  • Drive cost efficiency by securing best commercial outcomes in all third-party engagements to support MTM’s maintenance obligations and operational goals.
  • Provide insights and implement continuous improvement initiatives in contract management processes and systems and ensure standards and legal requirements are met
  • Lead negotiations with vendors, contractors, and other external parties for Managed contracts whilst managing budget constraints
  • Identify and mitigate contractual risks, maintain risk registers, and ensure compliance with laws, regulations, and the Contract Management Framework.
  • Act as the key liaison between internal teams and external parties, manage supplier relationships, and support training for Contract Delivery Managers.
  • Mentor technical and delivery leads in managing contracts effectively and driving strong commercial outcomes.
  • Monitor and report on contract performance, identifying opportunities for improvement and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure contracts deliver maximum value and support MTM’s franchise obligations.

 

About you

  • Bachelor's degree business, commerce, engineering or a related field; advanced qualifications in contract management or procurement are a plus.
  • Significant experience in contract management or related roles, ideally within complex commercial or infrastructure environments.
  • Proven ability to negotiate, draft, and manage complex contracts and commercial relationships.
  • Strong understanding of legal and regulatory requirements, particularly in public transport and infrastructure sectors.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills for engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
