About the role
The Works Leader supports the signalling renewals program by delivering scheduled works to replace and upgrade signalling assets across the Metro network.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Works Assistant to step up into a senior position where you will act as a work group supervisor on site and apply your mechanical signalling technical knowledge to conduct briefs and deliver on different scopes of work.
This is a permanent position based at EGate, working onsite Monday – Friday, 0730 - 1530.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with installation, repair, modification, and inspection of signalling assets
- Perform manual labour using hand and mechanical tools for infrastructure maintenance and upgrades
- Support Signal Maintenance Technicians and Interlocking Fitters in various tasks
- Update asset databases with inspection results and asset condition reports
- Participate in planning, toolbox talks, and worksite meetings
- Ensure all work complies with OH&S standards and Metro’s policies
About you
- Strong experience working in a similar rail labouring position
- 3.1 TFPC qualification
- Current and Valid Victorian Drivers Licence including Medium Rigid (MR) Licence
- High Risk Licence and Track Vehicle Operator Licence (preferred)
- Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
- Sound knowledge of safety and safe working requirements
