About the role 

 

This is a contract role until 1st June 2027 primarily based at our Westall Depot.

 

The Electrical Fitter – Fleet Projects performs a range of activities including the selection, installation, setting up, testing, fault finding, repair and maintenance of electrical systems and equipment on the Melbourne suburban train fleet vehicles to ensure the safe, reliable and on time running of the train fleet.

 

Key responsibilities include:

 

  • Comply with all relevant safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Carry out project-related tasks, including the selection, installation, configuration, testing, fault diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of electrical systems and components.
  • Work across various types of suburban train fleet vehicles.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair electrical circuits to ensure optimal functionality.
  • Interpret and apply electrical schematics and technical diagrams accurately.
  • Utilize established fault-finding techniques to diagnose and resolve issues effectively.
  • Perform train modifications in line with project requirements.
  • Operate computer-based tools and diagnostic equipment to maintain and service on-board electrical and mechanical systems.

 

About you

To be successful in this role you will have:

 

  • Hold a trade qualification as an Electrical Fitter or Electrical Mechanic (mandatory).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ proven experience in a similar electrical role (desirable).
  • Prior experience working in a project-based environment (highly desirable).
  • Possess a current and valid Driver’s Licence (mandatory)
