Our Network Assets and Assurance (NA&A) team includes more than 2000 people from Infrastructure, Innovation, Engineering, Rolling Stock, OCMS, Strategic Asset Management and Planning and Integration. The NA&A team manage the change to the network – ensuring that the asset outcome is safe, reliable, and sustainable, both today and into the future. 

 

About the role 

 

Are you ready to play a critical role in transforming Melbourne's train network? As part of our Project installation team, you'll be at the forefront of upgrading the door locking system of our Comeng train fleet. Your main mission? To assemble, inspect, and install electrical components, ensuring seamless on-train modifications that enhance safety and efficiency. 

 

This is a 9 month max term position based at our Westall Projects Depot. Working hours are Monday to Friday from 07:00AM to 03:30PM. 

 

What you will be doing 

 

  • Assemble, replace, and install electrical components. 

  • Collaborate with project and depot managers. 

  • Maintain compliance and quality standards. 

  • Diagnose faults and assist investigations. 

  • Contribute to process improvement. 

  • Prioritise safety and regulatory compliance. 

  • Foster teamwork and a safe work environment. 

  • Complete documentation accurately. 

  • Mentor team members and provide technical support. 

  • Troubleshoot issues and implement solutions. 

  • Support diagnostic and quality control tools. 

 

About you 

 

  • Certificate III Electrician or Electrical Fitter Trade qualification, or tertiary equivalent. 

  • Minimum 5 years relevant industrial experience (Airline, Military, Oilfield, Automotive, Rail, Manufacturing, maintenance) including electrical component maintenance, installation, servicing, or overhaul. 

  • Ability to read and interpret electrical assembly drawings, instructions, and bills of material.
