We’re currently seeking a Mechanical Fitter for our Westall Depot.
Our Rolling Stock division is seeking an enthusiastic Mechanical Fitter responsible for the disassembly, cleaning, inspection, and assembly of mechanical, pneumatic, and mechatronic rail components, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant maintenance and repair activities.
Key role responsibilities
- Dis-assembly, and inspection of mechanical/pneumatic/mechatronic components
- Examine, service, maintain, overhaul and test mechanical, pneumatic, and mechatronic components
- Repair damaged/faulty parts by machining and welding or fabricating new parts
- Diagnose faults, assist with investigations, and address non-conformances
- Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the production processes
- Maintain effective relationships within the workplace to promote a collaborative environment
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to safety protocols and guidelines
- Collaborate with the Project Manager, Depot Manager and Fleet Projects team to achieve Balance Scorecard objectives
- Perform any other duties as specified by manager
Qualifications & Experience
- Appropriate Certificate III Mechanical Trade qualification, Mechatronic Trade or tertiary equivalent
- 5+ years relevant industrial experience (rail industry preferred) including mechatronic component maintenance, servicing, and overhaul
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings, wiring diagrams and bills of material
- Current Victorian Driver’s License
- Previous experience within a maintenance environment is expected
- Demonstrated expertise within either a rail/manufacturing environment
